Speaking & Presentations

I present regularly to other clinicians on bringing the expressive arts into psychotherapy — at international conferences, at UCSF, and to hospital teams. Below is a record of that work.

Introduction to Expressive Arts Therapy in Acute Psychiatry

UCSF Psychiatry Grand Rounds — repeated at the Western Sydney Local Health District, Australia

An introduction for psychiatric professionals to integrating expressive arts methods into Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for patients in intensive psychiatric services. This presentation explores how arts-based interventions can complement medication, psychotherapy, and other clinical care, drawing from the DBT curriculum I developed for UCSF’s Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient (IOP) programs.

Polyvagal Theory, Parts, and Pathways to Connection

International Expressive Arts Therapy Association, 16th Conference

An experiential workshop introducing polyvagal theory and Internal Family Systems approaches through the expressive arts. Creative processes of drawing, movement, and improv theater helped workshop participants identify their own nervous-system states and find their way back toward connection.

Aligning with Wise Mind: A Self-Care Journey for Therapists Using Arts-Based Dialectical Behavior Therapy

International Expressive Arts Therapy Association, 15th Conference

A workshop for clinicians rather than clients: applying arts-based DBT skills to the therapist’s own practice, and to the particular strain of this work.

Rejuvenation Through Radical Acceptance: Integrating DBT Skills with EXA Techniques

International Expressive Arts Therapy Association, 14th Conference — repeated at the Expressive Therapies Summit

Exploring radical acceptance as a DBT skill, approached through expressive arts techniques rather than discussion alone.

Consultation and training

I consult with other care providers and present to clinical teams on arts-based approaches to therapy. If you’re interested in a workshop, supervision, or a presentation for your organisation, see consultation options or get in touch.
