This policy explains what happens to information collected through melissacraventherapy.com. It is written for people visiting this website — including anyone considering therapy who hasn’t contacted me yet.
If you are a current client, the handling of your health information is governed separately by my Notice of Privacy Practices, which you receive when we begin working together. That document, not this one, describes your rights regarding your treatment records.
What this website collects
When you fill out the contact form, I receive your name, email address, phone number, city, state, the type of service you selected, and whatever you choose to write in the message field. This is sent directly to my email. Form submissions are not stored in the website database.
Please keep the message brief. You don’t need to share detailed medical history to reach out — a sentence or two about what’s bringing you here is plenty, and the rest belongs in a conversation.
When you book a consultation, you are taken to Calendly, which collects the details needed to schedule the call. Calendly’s own privacy policy governs that information.
Website analytics. This website does not use analytics or visitor-tracking software. No third-party service is told that you visited, and no cookies are used to follow you from site to site.
What this website does not do
- No advertising trackers. There is no Meta pixel, no Google Ads tag, and no advertising network receives information about your visit.
- Your information is never sold, rented, or shared for marketing.
- Visiting this site does not add you to any mailing list.
- No attempt is made to identify you as an individual visitor.
How your information is used
Only to respond to you, schedule a consultation, and — if we begin working together — to provide and bill for therapy services. Nothing else.
Services I use
- Sessions Health — clinical records, intake forms, and the client portal
- Thrizer — payment processing and, for clients who choose to use their insurance benefits, submitting claims on their behalf
- Zoom for Healthcare — video sessions
- Calendly — scheduling consultations
- Proton Mail — email
- WordPress and its hosting provider — this website
How long information is kept
If you contact me and we don’t end up working together, your message is kept for 12 months and then deleted. If we do work together, your clinical records are retained as required by California law and my professional obligations, which is longer.
Security
Email is used carefully but is not a fully secure medium. Please don’t send detailed personal or health information by email or through the contact form. Anything sensitive is better discussed in a session or by phone.
Children
I work with adults. This website is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Your choices
You can ask what information I have about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it, by emailing melissalcraven@proton.me. If you are or were a client, requests about your treatment records are handled under my Notice of Privacy Practices and California law, which give you specific rights regarding those records.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date.
